Hello everyone-This is my first posting. I'm early 70s & worn aids for @ 40+ yrs. Hope I can write positive messages. After all these years of wearing aids, adapting to new aids should not be too difficult to handle. But I'm finding the opposite is true. I've tried several new aids with no success. My present aids are early digital [worn them 5 yrs] & I just don't adjust to new hi tech aids aduiologists say fit my audiogram. I like the bass, but audiograms show hi loss in the high pitches. Programmed for the high pitches gives head & ear aches & my balance is affected. Tinnitis is a huge issue & have tried Resound aids which are supposed to mask the tinnitus. Didn't work for me & the white noise was so loud others could hear it. I love the on/off switch & volume control, but new aids don't seem to have these features. I want to be in control, but new aids want to control me. Manufacturers seem to be too concerned with invisable aids with latest technology [did I mention high prices] & unconcerned with actual clear crisp hearing. Knowing a tiny bit about sound absorption by different materials, I'm of the opinion the new aids are made of materials that do not reflect the sound as the analogy/older aids. I have the same problem with telephones. The old old phones work best for me instead of the ones designed for the hard of hearing. I'm still using an early 70s phone without telecoil. Telecoil dulls sound for me. Thanks for letting me vent. Stay cool & enjoy weekend.
