Subject : Assistive listening devices posted by BugLady on Tue Jan 11, 2011 5:56 pm |
| Hi, sorry if this is repetitive with stuff that's already been covered, but I couldn't find more than a few passing references to the use of assistive devices in the home. My mother is 96 and quite hard of hearing, although digital hearing aids are of some help. She's still sound of mind and is very frustrated at her inability to interact with people (she's also low-vision with macular degeneration). I was wondering if people think that having a system like an induction loop installed in her apartment would help her -- visitors could even speak into a microphone, perhaps? And perhaps she could hear the TV and radio? Are such systems affordable? And if so, how do we go about finding out more about it? Any guidance would be most appreciated! |
