Subject :  Different program for music and phones???
posted by ptaylor999 on Mon Dec 27, 2010 12:45 pm
Hi all. I'm wondering if someone out there might have some insight into this perplexing issue. I've tried listening to music and phone calls with my HAs via a bluetooth enabled TEK device (Siemens), but the sound is always too low and tinny sounding. This makes sense to me because my HAs are programmed to take in external sounds and ONLY boost those frequencies that I'm deficient in - high sounds, for me - and NOT boost the other frequencies at all. Correct? Explained another way, while I'm listening to music or a phone call, the only source of sound is coming from the HAs which are programmed to ONLY deliver the higher frequencies, but when I'm hearing things out in the world I'm getting sound from both the world AND my HAs, so when those sounds are mixed I get good sound. So here's my question: by that logic shouldn't I have a program made for music that boosts ALL frequencies to a normal listening level and then add an extra boost to those frequencies I can't hear as well? Otherwise I'd only be getting sound from a single source (phone or ipod) through my HAs that are transmitting only the higher frequencies that the HA is designed to boost to deal with my hearing loss. Am I on the right track here? And more importantly, has anyone asked their audi to do this before? And if so, how did it work out for you?
