| the Golden Egg for the System of the named "medical devices", hearing aids/aided hearing/or other named equipment under this unbrella -- my observation: Nothing, much has changed since I started my journey into the HOH family of searching for hearing aids that worked, except that I did find success at the end of eight years: but, only because of my determination. IMHO, The System has become stronger, the FDA rules and regulations have become more (not fewer), and the AMA, and the AAA are still backing it all (along with the FDA, of course).. And, here at the bottom of this ladder of indifference, we, the HOH, sit. Still not a "pretty picture" for me to digest, even now. In thinking about my HOH friend's situation (I posted a short time, ago), many thoughts came to my mind, as I was trying to make sense, any sense of The System of fitting and selling of HAs. It seems to be the lack of Freedom of Choice and alll the FDA's rules and regulations (pointed straight at the HOHers) that are the most bother to me. The one huge answer that keeps coming up to my question, "WHY?", seems to be , "Got to be CAREFUL, because of lawsuits; Got to be CAREFUL, the HOH can't do the Care we can do; Got to be CAREFUL, (with just more of the same)". And, here, the HOH sit -- at the bottom of the ladder of CAREFUL, and then some, from The System. Now, if a HOH person goes shopping as a regular customer/comsumer of "goods", he/she can buy many, many "over the counter" items -- even eye glasses, cough drops, bandaids (for "hurts), TVs, CD players, musical instruments, lawn mowers, lawn edgers, chain saws, and thousand of other items, not considered "medical devices" that the volume of noise produced, would "knock your socks off". Still, makes no sense to me, whatsoever; --- except arrogance and greed to The System from The Goose that laid "them" a Golden Egg (that's us, the HOHers), sad, but true. Oh, there IS one, that I know of that made it out (for HOHers), AH, of course. Thank you, God. kip |
