Subject : A little advice please from the experts out there. posted by soundtrack on Thu Apr 22, 2010 10:06 am |
| I've been getting some very good help here with the Bernafon Verites I am doing a trial of right now, but I want to back up a little to some questions no one responded to in an earlier post. I have heard that the Verites are very good for losses in the high frequency range but I have an unusual loss as you can see below. My questions follow: 1. Generally speaking, are the Bernafon Verite aids or for that matter, any rite aid a good choice for me considering my loss? 2. I'm wondering if with my loss, would regular open fit aids still be an option? 3. If I need the receiver in the ear aids (rather than open fit), what tip do I need? I think the tulip tip is a bit occluding, I'm now trying the more open fit tip (looks like a mushroom with openings in it) but I'm trying to figure out if I'm getting the loudness I need. Is there another tip I could use given my loss? What would you recommend? I have listed my hearing audiogram below. 250 R-10 L-10 500 R-10 L-10 750 R-65 L-55 1000 R-65 L-60 2000 R-60 L-50 4000 R-45 L-35 8000 R-55 L-35 My first hearing aids were a disaster so I'm very nervous about trusting the fitter. Hearing what some of you have to say might help me especially when your advice it in agreement with what she has to say. One last question, should I try another aid by another company before I make my final decision? Cost is an issue for me so that is why I've gone to Costco. Thank all of you who take your time to respond to folks like me. It means a great deal. Shirley |
