Subject :  Three Handy HA Tools
posted by kip on Wed Apr 7, 2010 11:31 pm
All three, I consider a must; and, all three I found searching the Internet trying to find HA tools giving me more control over taking care of my HAs, myself. An Otoscope (I was surprised to see how much debris was hidding in my CICs); A drying kit container of drying beads (an excellent over night place for hearing aids after removal of batteries); and last, but most important tool I have yet to find -- A Hearing Aid Vacuum Cleaner. The little HA Vacuum that I found via the Internet - I was looking for one similar to one I saw in my Audi's office - there it was - just what I was looking for --
jodi-vac Hearing Aid Vacuum Cleaner. The website had a toll free number and E-mail address. Nice, friendly person to talk to asked me a few questions (as I did her) to be sure the package would have all the equipment needed to properly
"self-clean" my CICs. Have used this vacuum cleaner for over four years, with no problems whatsoever. At least once a week (if not sooner), I examine my CICs with the handy Otoscope; then, if finding cleaning needed, following instructions for the jodi-vac - only takes a few minutes -- and no "go-back" to local fitter for a 5 to 15 minute appointment for cleaning is needed. A word of caution, though - I wanted to learn and to take care of my HAs, myself, as much as possible. So, homework is necessary; and a work area, good lighting, and care in knowing the areas to self-clean and knowing the areas to leave to the fitters to do that job for you are a must. Just thought I might pass on use of handy HA tools that I use and like. Heed the noted cautions, though.
