Subject :  BILL OF RIGHTS OF HOH PERSON SEEKING AIDED HEARING
posted by kip on Mon May 11, 2009 11:40 pm
I think this needs to be brought to the front, again. Just as true, today as it was the first time around -- maybe, even more so. kip

I, a HOH person, expect the following pertaining to my God given rights of fair and just treatment in the process of trying to obtain aided hearing equipment of some sort:

1. There will be no "high pressure sales tactics", ever.

2. All my questions, asked, shall be answered in
understandable 'lay-man" terms English language, in an
unhurried fashion. No secrets, allowed, from the
professionals.

3. A copy of all rules, regulations, contracts, warranties, etc.
shall be furnished - at no charge - and all questions,
asked, answered (fully) in a timely manner. No "hidden
meanings" allowed from the professionals.

4. Control of HOH person's needs, wants, and desires will be
considered first by and for the HOH person.

5. It will up to the HOH person as to what consists of a
"successful" fit as to wear-ability, hear-ability, and comfort
zone.

6. In all areas of the fitting process of hearing aid(s), the
HOH person will be the determining factor as to "enough
is enough" and stop the fitting process or continue on.

7. The HOH person has a right to expect his/her own
expectations - not the fitter's - to consider the fit a
success -- otherwise, no need to start in the first pace.

8. In all the above - and, any visits/appointments , the HOH
person will be treated with "caring" respect, always.
And, in regards to appointment just to see what the
procedures, price, rules &regulations -- the word, TRUTH,
shall prevail.

9. And, lastly, but most important of all the above --------
The FDA and all the Professionals involved with the aided
hearing process of and for HOH people, TAKE DOWN
THAT WALL OF INDIFFERENCE TO THE HOH
PEOPLE -- THE PEOPLE THAT YOU SERVE - AND
RESCIND YOUR RULE THAT HEARING AIDS ARE
MEDICAL DEVICES.
From the HOH people that your serve,
"THAT RULE DOESN'T APPLY ANYMORE".

GIVE THE HOH PEOPLE, YOU SERVE, FREEDOM
TO CHOOSE AND HAVE CONTROL OVER THEIR
OWN, PERSONAL, HEARING HEALTH NEEDS, IF
WANTED AND NEEDED.

Note: From KIP -- What are the chances that a HOH person will be "shown out the door", after a professional reads Your Bill of Rights, as you go into his/her office. About, 310% +, I would gather. IMHO, the only way for change to happen is for the HOH people to start thinking " Out of the Box", and get things moving along in the right direction.
Change, is the HOH person's choice -- it really is, when you think about the fact that the HOH person decides "too much money to spend on things that don't work, anyway", "too hard to make the effort in a MAZE that has so many twists and turns", "too much money to spend on things that don't work, anyway", "not important to hearing anymore -- took too long working at giving hearing aids a try", too much money to spend on things that don't work, anyway". I hope all HOH people will get my meaning in this post, tonight. For, it is a pretty true picture of a few of the needed "rights", HOH people don't seem to have, at present. Then, who will The System find to sell their products to, if we, the HOH people turn our backs and say, "No more, No more"? We DO have VALUE AND WORTH -- It's just that we need a "hand-up" in the aided hearing processes. That's all.
